Shia's House is a transitional housing program for single mothers and their children. A structured, supportive environment where women build the skills, stability, and confidence they need to move into independent living.

This isn't a shelter. It's a program with purpose. Every woman who comes through this door gets a private room, a dedicated Success Coach, and a real plan for getting stable, built around her goals, not someone else's checklist.

Part of BIG SIS Inc.'s BOOST program — Building Opportunities and Offering Support Together.

You Can Still Get Support.

You don't have to live at Shia's House to access BOOST program services. If you're stable where you are but need help building toward independence, we have community-based services for you too, case management, life skills workshops, financial coaching, parenting support and referrals. You don't have to be in crisis to ask for help, and you don't have to move in to get it.

Are you a Case Manager or Service Provider?

We accept referrals from case managers, social workers, healthcare providers, courts, schools, and community partners. If you work with a mother who needs stable housing and real support, we want to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I stay?

Up to six months, depending on your individual plan and progress.

What does the program cost?

Shia's House charges a program fee of $750-$950 per month depending on your room, covering your housing and utilities. This is not rent, it's a room and board contribution that supports your stay in the home. All BOOST program services, case management, life skills workshops, financial coaching, parenting support are provided at no additional cost.

Can my children stay with me?

Yes. Children are required to live with you (up to 5 children, ages 13 and under).

Are visitors allowed?

No. Shia's House maintains a no-visitors policy to protect the safety and stability of all residents and their children.

Can another agency pay program fees on my behalf?

Yes. If you are receiving support from a social services agency, case manager, or community organization, that agency may pay your program fee directly on your behalf. We work with referring agencies and community partners regularly and are happy to coordinate with your case manager or support team. If a third party will be covering your fees, let us know during intake so we can set up the arrangement properly. This does not affect your eligibility or your participation in any BOOST services.

Do I have to participate in program activities?

Yes. Required program activities — life skills workshops, parenting education, and case management sessions — are part of the program and built into your plan.

What if I don't need housing, just support?

You can still access BOOST services in the community without moving in. See above for what's available.
